At Beauty-Full Spa Pickering two methods are used to reduce scarring.  There are different types of scarring which include acne, chicken pox divots, after surgical procedures; and untreated accidental damage tissue left to heal naturally.  Sometimes clients mistakenly self diagnose hyperpigmentation areas as scar tissue.  For these areas, the skilled staff at Beauty-Full Spa uses ultrasonic therapy to smooth the tissue plus some special formulation serums to reduce the heaviness in colour.  By extracting the surplus heat from the tissue (hyperpigmentation) and smoothing the skin at the same time an evenness in skin tone is achieved.  Very few people of dark skin have a desire to turn whiter; they are just looking for evenness in their skin tone.  For women to achieve this means less makeup on their skin which allows the skin to breath benefiting in healthier natural glowing skin.

The second method used by Beauty-Full Spa is Mild Electrocautery (elec•tro•cau•tery) also known as Mild Electrocauterization.   This safe, non-surgical procedure uses heat generated by a high-voltage, high-frequency alternating micro-currents that are passed through a disposable sterilized electrode to remove the unwanted tissue.   Using this tool, the outer edges of the scarring, similar to landscaping is leveled giving the surrounding tissue a look of evenness.  It is like taking moon crater and reducing the outer edges to the eye one would see a slight depression almost invisible without up-close examination.  Ideal for the reduction and unwanted attention to acne scarring, chicken pox, surgical scarring and large pore reduction.

This is a skilled task that Beauty-Full Spa Pickering has been offering since 2005.  This same method is used for the removal of moles, skin tags, Fibromas, Xanthomas (cholesterol deposits around the eyes), Cherry Angiomas, small cysts and age spots/sun spots/liver spots/brown spots.

Today the search engines are frequented by people looking for skin bleaching Pickering, skin lightening Pickering, skin whitening Pickering, and many of these searches are falling on landing pages with offers that are just too good to be true.  So, do your homework before you take at face value what is being offered.  In September 2018, a permanent makeup eyebrow tattoo removal client of Beauty-Full Spa Pickering visited the spa to see if they could assist the client in fixing a self-inflicted injury.  The client had applied a product to four prominate locations on her face that appeared to have been burned with a torch leaving permanent scarring.  Upon probing what the client had used, it was revealed that they had purchased, “100% TCA Home Skin Peel Kit – Remove Tattoos, Age Spots, Stretch Marks, Acne Scars, Moles, Scars, Skin Tags, Hyperpigmentation, Wrinkles and Freckles!,” from Amazon.ca.  The add went on to state, “Professional Strength – Can Be Diluted For Many Uses; Use in The Privacy of Your Home; Contains No Additives; Includes 1 Dram (4 ML) Bottle of 100% TCA Peel Acid, vinyl gloves, q-tips & instructions.”  BUYER BEWARE.  This client has most likely done permanent damage to their beautiful skin.  It may be possible with potentially thousdands of dollars for the client to have multiple laser resurfacing procedures to get her skin back to some sense of normaliciy.  This is a product that should not be used outside of a physican’s office and at the very most only at 20% concentration for the novice user.

There seems to be a consensus among physicians that TCA (trichloroacetic acid) used for chemical peels should have a 15% to 35% concentration.  Most physicians report using a 30 or 35% peel on the face and reduce to a much lower concentrations on the neck and upper chest.  A light peel which is one that you would repeat more often for less of an effect and less downtime would be 15-20%.  One physician reported that the only time he uses any larger concentration of TCA is on ice pick acne scars.  As there is a risk to using this acid many physicians have switched to Fractional and Fully Ablative laser resurfacing which has lower risks, however, is considerably much more expensive.

Before purchasing any miracle cures off the Internet, please go to a physician or Beauty-Full Spa Pickering and receive a free consultation (also free parking).  Have them tell you if their methods will work and what a realistic outcome you can expect.  In most cases, once all your questions have been addressed it is very possible that the first treatment can be rendered immediately after the free consultation.  You can also go to your family physician who can recommend a dermatologist, cosmetic surgeon, however, it can take months to see them and more time for the procedure to be scheduled.  Since 2001, most of these procedures have been classified as cosmetic and are paid out of pocket unless they are deemed to be life threatening and then OHIP would pay.
