What exactly is a body wrap?  Archaeologists discovered evidence of body wraps in ancient Egypt; India, China and various parts of South America.  In our modern times, Body Wraps have been more recently traced to 1961 when they were introduced to North America as part of a herbal detox program. Also, in 1961, linen sheets were the preferred wrapping method with various herbal formulations to detox and promote weight loss sandwiched between the client’s skin and linen wraps. Thus the term body wrap became synonymous with Herbal Wraps from the 1980s through the 1990s.  In the late 1990s, plastic wrap and thermal blankets replaced the linen sheets reducing the required laundry and making the client feel safer as fresh plastic wrap was used each time before they went into the thermal blanket.  Although thermal blankets are still in use, many service providers have switched to infrared blankets that have more added value than the electric thermal blankets due to the methodology used to deliver the heat.

In addition to the actual wrap, is the formulation that is sandwiched between the plastic wrap and the client’s skin.  Beauty-Full Spa & Weight Loss Treatment Centre uses proven marine products developed by Algotherm in France.

Their body wrap begins with an application of a gentle non-oil based marine body scrub which is applied to your entire body (excluding your head).  The scrub is left to dry which takes two to three minutes completely.  Using a circular motion and wearing exfoliation gloves, your esthetician removes dead skin cells.  Next warm water is used to rinse the skin removing remaining debris resulting in your skin the touch being soft, smooth and very shiny.  An activating serum is applied to open all of your pours to facilitate the detoxing effect through the skin of body impurities.

Now a fast-acting custom blended contouring (slimming) formula comprised marine seaweed is applied, infusing minerals, essential oils and micro-nutrients which are absorbed through the surface of the skin, yes through the pores opened in the previous step.  In order not to allow any of this newly acquired goodness to escape you are wrapped in plastic leaving your head, hands and feet open for circulation purposes.

Now its your turn to make a decision from one of these three options: 1) 30-minutes in the Infrared Dry Sauna (you can read/use your electronic device/close your eyes and have a Zen moment; 2) 30-minutes in the Infrared Hot Blanket where you can listen to relaxing spa music 3) in the Infrared Hot Blanked and watch television.

Finally, your treatment ends with a trip with your esthetician to the shower where she removes the wrap.  You are left alone to you have a warm shower.  You dry, return to the treatment room, dress and marvel at the treatment you just enjoyed to the max.  Sounds good, now pick up the phone and call 905-420-0020 to book your appointment.

So what’s been accomplished?  This combination is outstanding as it combines detoxification, firming treatment which promotes a healthy, detox while burning an estimated 600 calories in the Infrared Dry Sauna or Infrared Blanket.  Although there are 4,082 calories in a pound of body fat, this is a pretty good start considering no activity is required.  Compare this effortless calorie burn at roughly 2.16 calories for every pound of body weight during 30 minutes of the general elliptical machine. If you are mathematically challenged, put simply, that will allow a 185-Lb-person (85 kg) a burn about 400 calories in a typical 30-minute elliptical workout. This treatment yields an effortless 600 calory burn.   Additional benefits include removal of tension, boosting metabolism and speeding up the elimination of toxins via the Lymphatic System.  This treatment also moisturizes, softens and elasticises the epidermis.
