In some circles, women and men who have facial moles consider them as beauty marks, that allow them to stand out from the pack.  The people who promote this notion are those with facial moles.  It has been the FEAR of facial scarring that has held these individuals back from having their mole(s) removed.  It has only been in the last five years since the introduction of HD TV, that facial moles have exploded on the screen.  Sure Robert De Niro and Russell Crowe have a facial mole that cannot be hidden by makeup and appears on every character they play on the big screen.  And yes, Beauty-Full Spa has reached out to both of these actors to have their facial moles removed.

Many doctors do not select the method used by Beauty-Full Spa Pickering, as it takes more time for the actual removal then the methods they were taught while becoming physicians.  Realistically it has only been in the last 20 years that mole removal was possible without leaving a scar.  Given the choice of having a scar on your face or a beauty mark, no contest everyone agrees on the beauty mark.  Agreed one mole may be considered as unique or as a distraction.  For example, the actor Morgan Freeman has many tiny “like moles” (as due to an estimated 35% of African Americans there faces) on his face known as DPN (Dermatosis Papulosa Nigra) or Fibromas.  Is it because Mr Freeman is an incredible actor, that the viewer doesn’t acknowledge this unattractive feature on his face?

At Beauty-Full Spa Pickering, they offer the removal of DPN from the cheeks, eyelids, surrounding areas around the eyes, all other facial locations as well as the neck, chest, back and wherever else they may occur.

Do moles on a person’s face make them standout as attractive people or as abnormal depending on the mole size and location?  It wasn’t until 2000 that these moles could be removed leaving in most cases no mark whatsoever that the mole was ever there in the first place.  What changed from the beginning of time to around year

It has been estimated that the average North American adult displays an estimated 10 to 40 moles on their bodies.  These moles are also known as beauty warts, beauty spots, beauty marks, and even unloved hairy blemishes.  It has only been in the last 20-years that doctors started to examine their patients for moles.  They may have been motivated by OHIP who pays them $50 to refer patients to a specialist to have these moles to be removed.  For the most part, moles are an unwanted family inheritance present at birth and often have growth spurts over a person lifespan.  The UV light and overall exposure to the sun is believed to have some association with the growth of moles, however, this is just a hypothesis (short for B.S. yet to be proven).

The scientific term for moles is Melanocytic Naevi which are clusters of pigment-producing cells called Melanocytes.  Moles often vary person to person in appearance and size.  Generally, they can be 1 mm to 5mm, or as large as 1.5 cm.  They can appear smooth, flat, hairy, protruding, or bumpy often round or oval with clean edges.

Melanin cells are located between your first and second layers of skin and are responsible for sending the brown to darker colours to the skin’s surface making the moles’ appearance change in colour compared to the surrounding colour of their skin. Although not often seen are the Halo Naevi which are moles with a white ring around them.  The Blue Naevi moles appear to be a dark blue as they are the result of melanocytes located deep within the skin.

Moles are more likely to appear at birth to 40-years of life. Moles at one time were common among the white to fair skin people of mainly European descendants.  However, in multicultural countries like Canada and the United States, they appear also on many dark-skinned people due to the mixing of the races. In the early stages of life moles often show up and disappear due to hormonal events.  Puberty can multiply them, during pregnancy the often change to a darker colour, and during old age they depopulate.  Unless removed at Beauty-Full Spa Pickering, moles can stay with you your entire life.  Freckles, mostly found on blonde to red-haired white people are smaller than moles and often appear after sun exposure.  They also start to disappear after the age of 56 without any explanation.

It is believed for the North American population that 99.9% of all moles never become cancerous.  Often exposure to the sun plus hormonal changes can change their colour and shape and even make them grow lighter in shade.  If you are an outside worker watch for moles that suddenly appear and monitor them for changes in size, sensitivity, do they bleed easily, develop fuzzy edges or grow larger, if yes, get them checked out by your family physician right away.  In Ontario any mole removed that is cancerous is covered by OHIP, all other moles removed are considered as cosmetic and are paid for out of your own pocket.

At Beauty-Full Spa Pickering they suggest that if you have any concerns whatsoever about a lesion on your body that you should have it looked at by your family physician or skin specialist.  Do not let GOOGLE diagnose you. Atypical moles account for about 10% of the population who have moles and only one in 10,000 will develop melanoma the most aggressive form of skin cancer.

Beauty-Full Spa has been removing moles since 2005 at their only location in Pickering.  Their website got hacked by a company from India in 2017, and since that time they have been slowly re-editing the more than 1,000 before and after pictures.  The majority of the website rebuilt in late 2017; however, it is taking a much longer time for all the images to be reedited.
