There is much confusion in the Ontario non-essential service sector as to when business providing personal services may be allowed to reopen in the “new COVID-19 No Vaccine Available Normal.”  We have been in touch with the Durham Regional Health Department, who have informed us that they have no news as to when Spa’s can reopen.  In addition, they have not given us any reopening protocols other than the best practices available on the Ontario Governments health-related website which unfortunately has no new protocols for waxing, facials, pedicures, manicures, weight loss mechanical treatments, mole removal, skin tag removal, and removal other skin irregularities or laser tattoo removal.  Yes, it could be challenging to have a Brazilian Wax done under the current social distancing two-meter guidelines.

Yes, as we get closer to Phase Two of the Ontario Government Business Reopening strategy, it is our understanding that Massage Therapy will be allowed to restart.  Although massage therapy is one of the services offered by Beauty-Full Spa, the Spa itself will not be allowed to resume operations until the beginning of Phase Three.

There is much uncertainty, and people have been cooped up, many for more than 12 weeks.  Now with the arrival of the summer warmth, it will be very difficult to keep people engaged in the COVID-19 new normal.  Most certainly, there will be huge spikes in the confirmed cases by the middle of June due to the protests, which started on both sides of the border on May 31, 2020. The large gathering of people not following the guidelines of wearing masks or social distancing.  Logically if you are not masked and are shouting, droplets are flying out of your mouth, landing on others nearby.  If the numbers spike due to these situations, the government may react with a rollback to Phase One or even another complete lockdown, thus pushing our reopening into September 2020 or beyond.

Just for the record and in my opinion, all four police officers in the public execution of George Floyd in Minneapolis, should all be in jail awaiting trial, yes locked up as any of the rest of us would be in similar circumstances.  The killing of George Floyd in this manner is no different than hanging by the KKK, who are generally white men in costume/uniform.  That stated, in our current societies, everyone has the right to protest.  This caught on camera execution is the spark that has lite a fire that will not be extinguished until real change is implemented and excepted by all of us.  I watched a clip on CNN today, June 2, 2020, in which Joe Biden informed the American people what he would do if elected in November to be POTUS.  I just do not understand why at the end of his speech, he did not take a knee and say a prayer in the room from which he spoke.
